"in my body (the room that will outlive us)", for four pianos, reorganizes and subverts both the quartet dynamic and the piano itself. Positioning all pianos in an inverted arrangement with the backs of the four performers against one another (the keyboards creating an enclosure)— this sonic space is interested in the conceptual architecture of “within.” The players themselves are positioned at the meeting points between pianos rather than centered; as the work evolves they are forced to stretch farther on each side and across one another— moving from the outside of the keyboards to their middles and from separation to literal entanglement.

This sonic space is interested in ‘within’. Enclosed together– positioned between pianos – players stretch from the keyboards’ edges to their centers – from separation to entanglement.
